Product Code:SAE ARP777
Title:Gas Actuators (Linear and Vane Rotary Type)
Issuing Committee:A-6b1 Hydraulic Servo Actuation Committee
Scope:It is intended that this ARP will set down guidelines for the development and test of reliable rotary vane and/or linear gas actuators. Specific operational and test requirements shall be specified in a detail specification. The areas to be discussed are: requirements (performance, environment, life, and reliability), design and fabrication, and test considerations.Product Code:SAE AIR1602
Title:Starter System Optimization, Start Analysis, Turbine Engine - Electric, Battery Power
Issuing Committee:Ae-6 Starting Systems And Auxiliary Power Committee
Scope:This SAE Aerospace Information Report includes procedures for the analysis of a gas turbine engine start. It utilizes a standard form for the essential starting characteristics of the gas turbine engine and for the starting power capability of the aircraft battery. This report illustrates the format of the characteristic which is provided by the electric starter to transform the battery electric power (voltage and current) to the mechanical power (torque and speed) required to successfully start the engine. An aircraft engine start battery typically also serves as a backup source for emergency electrical energy. Guidelines are therefore provided for the determination of battery capacity to fulfill the emergency energy requirements of the aircraft. The purpose of this information report is to provide a general analysis guide for the optimization of the design of a battery/electric-starter starting system for turbine-engines, including determination of appropriate minimum ratings for both Power (Imp) and one hour energy (C1 capacity).
